  • Graduated from the Faculty of Engineering – Cairo University in 1982
  • Worked in the private sector as a civil engineer until he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1988.
  •  Headed the first non-governmental organization to monitor the first parliamentary elections in the unified state in 1993 (the Yemeni Committee for Free and Fair Elections).
  • Elected as a member of the Executive Office of the Yemeni Organization for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms, headquartered in Aden.
  • Participated in preparing a field report on preparations for the parliamentary elections in Jordan, September 1993.
  • Appointed as the first head of the diplomatic mission of Yemen in South Africa in 1996.
  • Appointed as Ambassador to Bahrain in 1996.
  • Worked on behalf of the late President Ali Abdullah Saleh to reopen the Yemeni-Saudi border file (1995-1999).

  • Chaired the National Committee for Refugee Affairs and the National Committee for the Prevention of the Proliferation of Chemical Weapons.
