Yemen welcomes President Donald Trump’s executive order to re-designate the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization. This decision reflects a genuine understanding of the nature of the threat posed by this Iran-backed terrorist group to the Yemeni people and regional and international security.
This designation is consistent with the Yemeni government’s firm position and repeated calls to classify the Houthi militia as a terrorist group, due to the horrific crimes and serious violations it commits against the Yemeni people and the serious threat it poses to regional and international peace and security.
The Yemeni government calls on the international community to take similar steps to enhance international efforts to combat terrorism and dry up its sources.
