The European Union announced the allocation of 193 million euros, equivalent to 206 million dollars, in funds to help the most vulnerable groups in Yemen.
The European Commission said in a press statement that the funding, announced by Commissioner Janez Lenarčič during the Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum, will provide the most vulnerable with life-saving assistance and that €136 million of this amount will be provided to the EU’s humanitarian partners, such as the UN and NGOs, to help meet emerging needs resulting from ongoing violence and sudden disasters.
The statement indicated that it will also allocate 55 million euros in development aid to support food security and livelihoods to meet urgent food security needs as well as long-term development and self-reliance.
