Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad al-Hadhrami discussed Monday with Deputy Director of European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office Michael Koehler, Head of Disputes and Humanitarian Affairs Department at Sweden Foreign Affairs Ministry Carl Skau and Ambassador of the European Union to Yemen Hans Grundberg humanitarian situation in Yemen.
In the meeting held through Video Conferencing, the convening parties discussed also following up results of the second meeting of humanitarian senior officials on Yemen’s humanitarian crisis held in November 2020 with participation of UN agencies and international and Yemeni organizations.
Minister al-Hadhrami expressed appreciation to efforts exerted by workers in humanitarian field for alleviating severity of humanitarian situations in Yemen, confirming that the government will continue providing necessary facilitations for ensuring access of the humanitarian organizations and workers to all areas in Yemen.
He pointed out to some systematic practices by Houthi militia to hinder efforts of the humanitarian work led by implementing fingerprint system suggested by World Food Program, which will ensure provision of the aid to the needy people and to stop Houthi militia’s looting of aid.
He also talked about politicizing Safir Oil Tanker issue by Houthi militia and creating big fool crisis in their held areas after looting funds from the Central Bank of Yemen in Hodeida allocated to government employees as salaries.
For their part, the European officials pointed out to continuation of providing humanitarian support to Yemeni people, praising facilitations provided by the government to international organizations.
