Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad al-Hadhrami discussed Wednesday with the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Yemen Ambassador Arma Marie van Duron mutual relations between the two countries and latest developments in Yemen.
Houthi escalations and attacks against civilians, peace process and efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths were also discussed.
Al-Hadhrami confirmed government’s support to efforts of the UN envoy for realizing peace in Yemen in accordance with the three references; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216, praising recent visit of Griffiths to Marib in which he reflected keenness of the UN on ending the war.
He stressed that the foreign policy in Yemen is taken by the political leadership and transferred by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and any statement by other officials does not represent the formal position of the state.
“Houthi militia’s escalation is unjustified and is considered a bad exploit to Hodeida Agreement,” said al-Hadhrami, holding Houthis accountable on aftermaths of recent escalation.
He confirmed the national army’s capability on beating Houthis.
For her part, the Dutch diplomat confirmed her country’s firm position supporting the internationally-recognized government and Yemen’s security, stability and sovereignty.
She also expressed support to UN envoy’s efforts for helping Yemen out of its crisis.
