Government’s delegation to Sweden peace consultation headed by Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Yemany met Sunday with Ambassadors of the five permanent member states of the United Nation Security Council with presence of the Sweden’s envoy to Yemen.
The session held on the sideline of the UN-led peace consultation in Sweden.
The Ambassadors praised President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi’s instructions translated by the government’s constructive engagement in the UN-led peace deliberations. They also appreciated the government’s patience and cooperation in Geneva’s consultations in which the coup’s delegation failed to show up.
The Ambassadors have confirmed their countries’ commitment to establish peace and support the Yemeni state and peoples’ aspirations they expressed in the National Dialogue’ outcomes. They stated that they had already voiced their position in supporting the Yemeni government and people in the International Security Council’s resolutions, namely 2216 which constitutes a road map for ending the Yemeni crisis through reinstating the official government and authorities and putting weapons under the government control.
Al-Yemany voiced the government’s appreciation for the five member states of the International Security Council for their contribution to hold this round of peace consultations.
Al-Yemay reiterated the government’s stance in supporting the UN-led efforts. He stated that the government is ready to fully engage in the discussions in order to achieve sustainable peace in Yemen that is based on the terms of peaceful solution reference including the GCC’s Initiative, outcomes of National Dialogue and International Security Council resolution 2216.
