Vice Foreign Minister chairs meeting for National Committee Refugee Affairs

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Mustafa Numan chaired Sunday an expanded meeting for the National Committee for Refugee Affairs Sunday.

The meeting discussed the activation of the committee’s work and ways to enhance coordination between national institutions, the UN Commission and international partners, aiming to improve the conditions of refugees in Yemen and ensure the provision of necessary support and protection according to international humanitarian standards.

The meeting also addressed the issue of the illegal exploitation of refugees by the terrorist Houthi militias, which amounts to human trafficking.

The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is also the head of the committee, emphasized the importance of the National Committee’s role in monitoring refugee issues and organizing related official efforts.

He stressed the need to enhance collaborative work among all relevant entities to ensure an effective and sustainable response to the challenges of irregular migration.

He also highlighted the necessity of updating data and information related to refugees and developing a field coordination mechanism in the provinces hosting large numbers of refugees, underlining the importance of regular meetings of the committee in the coming months.
