His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) along with the PLC’s members Aidaraous al-Zubaidi and Othman Mujalli held today, Wednesday, a high-profile multi-national session, included the US Special Envoy to Yemen Timothy Lenderking and high-ranking officials from Britain, Australia, European Union, Germany, Holland and Japan.
The meeting took place on the sideline of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly whose discussions kicked-off yesterday, Tuesday.
The discussions covered a range of topical issues including the latest developments about the Yemeni situation, the required pressures by the international community and superpowers upon the Houthi militias to get them sincerely engaged in the ongoing efforts of the regional and UN mediation to de-escalate the tensions and initiate an inclusive political process guided by the UN.
The conversations also touched upon the economic, institutional and services reforms the PLC and the government have embarked on and the needed regional and international support for the government’s efforts to go on the reforms as this is the best way to boost the peace chances, alleviate the Yemeni people’s suffering and mitigate the impacts of the repercussions of the Houthis’ terrorist attacks on the oil facilities and international shipping lanes. an ideal option.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya al-Zindani, Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Abdullah al-Sa’di and Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Washington Mohammed al-Hadrami were in attendance.
