Presidential Council holds emergency meeting to discuss latest developments

ADEN-SABA
The Presidential Leadership Council held Friday here a meeting chaired by Chairman of the Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi and attended by Members Aidrus al-Zubaidi, Sultan al-Aradah, Tareq Saleh, Abdulrahman al-Muharrami, Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi and Othman Mujally.

The council discussed latest national developments led by living and service situations, economic and banking reforms and Houthi terrorist militia’s threats of returning to war.

The Council was briefed on the letter of the United Nations Special Envoy Hans Grundberg to the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, which included a request for the support of the President and members of the Council to launch a UN-sponsored dialogue to discuss the recent economic developments and ways to solve them in the interest of the Yemeni people.

In this regard, the Council emphasized its commitment to a clear agenda for participation in any dialogue on the economic file, including the resumption of oil exports, the unification of the national currency, and the abolition of all arbitrary measures against the banking sector and the business community.

In this context, the Council referred to the reforms led by the government and the Central Bank of Yemen to improve living conditions, contain the deterioration of the national currency, protect the banking system, enhance supervision of banks and their foreign transactions, and optimally respond to disclosure standards and compliance with requirements to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
The Council also affirmed its pursuit to deter the arbitrary practices of the terrorist Houthi militias, while adopting the utmost flexibility and openness to discuss any proposals that would strengthen the independence of the banking sector and the legal status of the state in the temporary capital, Aden.

The Presidential Leadership Council also addressed the terrorist threats of the Houthi militias, agents of the Iranian regime, by resuming military escalation and returning the situation to the square of the comprehensive war, without regard for the prolonged humanitarian suffering.

The Presidential Leadership Council called on the Houthi militias to not flee from the internal and popular pressures, and their living priorities, towards hinting at disastrous adventures, and the continued opportunism on the pains of the Palestinian people and their just cause, after this propaganda approach has proven its falsity and failure over the past years, in changing the convictions of the Yemeni people, and the regional and international positions.

The Presidential Leadership Council warned the terrorist militias against returning to the option of comprehensive escalation, which would multiply the suffering and destroy what remains of the foundations of life and scarce livelihoods of the Yemeni people.

The council also warned of relinquishment of efforts led by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to end the war and restore the path of peace, stability and development, while at the same time affirming the readiness of the armed forces in all their military formations to deter any hostile adventure.
