US embassy in Yemen has said that Houthi militia transformed Yemen into the biggest landmines field in the world by planting around two million landmines.
” It will take eight years for complete clearance of the landmines planted by Houthi militia in Yemeni territories,” said the embassy in a statement on the occasion of the International Day for Mine Awareness Against Landmines’ Danger.
The statement stressed necessity of stopping Houthis using territories as a weapon in the war and commencing a work for peaceful future for all Yemenis.
The statement pointed out to US Department’s support to efforts of cleaning landmines in Yemen.
” Every step for removing landmines is a step for peace,” said US embassy.
