The ministerial council of the GCC has called for a more stern stance toward the Terrorist Houthi militias’ spoiler practices that are contrasting the UN-led efforts and regional good offices to establish peace in Yemen.
In its statement issued by the end of the 59th session of the ministerial gathering held today, Sunday, in Riyadh, the conclave reiterated its full support of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) led by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-ALimi to achieve security and stability in Yemen in order to realize a political settlement in accordance with the GCC’s Initiative, its operational mechanism, outcomes of National Dialogue Conference and the UNSCR2216 in a way that maintains Yemen’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.
The council welcomed the continuation of the sincere efforts by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman and the ongoing contacts with all Yemeni parties to revive the peace process to achieve a comprehensive and durable peace in Yemen.
The council’s statement stressed the importance of the Houthis engagement constructively in the international and UN’s efforts aiming to end the Yemeni crisis and alleviate the Yemeni people’s suffering.
The ministerial meeting renewed its support for the UN’s efforts led by its envoy Hans Grundberg and the US envoy Timothy Lenderking to reach a political solution based on the agreed on three terms of the peace references.
