President al-Alimi receives US Assistant Secretary of State

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi received Sunday here US Assistant Secretary of State Barbara A. Leaf and US Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagen.

The meeting touched upon mutual relations between the two friendly countries and means of enhancing them in different fields and US demanded support, including alleviating suffering of Yemeni people over humanitarian crisis made by Houthi terrorist militia.

The meeting tackled latest regional developments and Israeli war against the Palestinian people and its repercussions on the international security and peace. The two parties discussed also doubling efforts for imminent permanent ceasefire and easing arrival of relief assistances to millions of Palestinian people.

President al-Alimi confirmed Yemen’s firm position supporting the Palestinian people and their just issue and their right in regaining the independent state with full sovereignty.

He put the US official on the picture of latest developments in Yemen, including UN-led efforts on the bases of positive efforts of brothers in Saudi Arabia.

He touched upon repercussions of Houthi militia’s terrorist attacks on international navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden and their repercussions on the living conditions of Yemeni people, who suffer the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.

President al-Alimi repeated warning against dangers of continuous influx of Iranian weapons and smuggled funds to Houthi terrorist militia and other terrorist organizations on close relations with them on international security and peace.

He stressed importance of supporting the government of Yemen to impose its full control on Yemeni soil, in implementation to international decisions led by Security Council Resolution 2216 as an ideal way to disarm the reckless Houthi militia and to achieve peace and stability in Yemen.
