Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Mohamed Al -Alimi arrived to the city of Dubai today to participate in the twenty -eighth climate conference, whose sessions will kick off tomorrow, Thursday.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and his accompanying delegation were received at Al Maktoum Airport by Emirati Minister of Justice Abdullah Sultan Al -Nuaimi, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Yemen, Muhammad Hamad Al -Zaabi, and Yemen’s ambassador to the Emirates, Fahd Al -Menhali.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council will deliver Yemen’s speech to the global summit, reviewing the devastating effects of climate change in Yemen, especially on livelihoods, environmental resources, basic services, and infrastructure, and the international support required to reduce these repercussions, and improve national capabilities to predict and confront them.
Al-Alimi will also participate in fine sessions to assess the level of implementation of local and international climate obligations, including participation in the upcoming Group of 77plus China Summit which is held in conjunction with the conference.
The Group 77+ China Leaders Summit and the accompanying governmental delegation will discuss international funds to confront the effects of climate change in Yemen as part of global obligations to support developing countries by about 100 billion dollars annually, according to the Paris Agreement and the Glasgow Summit.
