President al-Alimi appreciates UK’s efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering, push peace.

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Tuesday, Ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) to the Republic of Yemen Richard Oppenheim.

The session intended to discuss the UN’s efforts, regional and international good offices to get the Terrorist Houthi militias earnestly engage in the endeavors aiming to mitigate the humanitarian suffering, establish peace and stability in Yemen.

President al-Alimi briefed the British Ambassador on the latest developments in the Yemeni national arena in view of the Iranian backed Houthi militias’ terrorist attacks on the oil facilities and the subsequent implications of these attacks upon the humanitarian and economic situations.

Al-Alimi cited the government’s policies and measures to cope up with those terrorist attacks. He touched upon the measures have been taken to secure basic services, maintain monetary and financial stability, ensure freedom of trade and world’s energy supplies; backed by Arab Coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, besides the role of the donors and international partners.

President al-Alimi praised the significant efforts of the UK and its keenness to allay the Yemeni peoples humanitarian suffering, restore the state’s institutions and revive peace process based on the agreed on terms of peace references.

The British Ambassador confirmed his country’s commitment to support the Yemeni government’s efforts to fulfill its humanitarian interventions, secure basic services to all Yemenis.

Mr. Oppenheim applauded the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to manage the economic and humanitarian challenges, commending their responsible reaction to the UN-led efforts to revive the truce, end the war.
