His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chariman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Thursday, the Charged’ Affairs of the American embassy in Yemen.
The session intended to discuss the latest developments in the Yemeni arena and the joint efforts to alleviate the Yemeni peoples’ suffering due to the destructive practices of the Iran-backed Terrorist Houthi militias.
The conversations covered several topics including the repercussions of the terrorist Houthi threats and attacks on the economic and commercial facilities upon livelihoods of the Yemeni peoples, the international security and peace, and the required measures to contain those implications.
President al-Alimi cited the government’s measures to deter the Houthi terrorist threats including practical procedures to implement the National Defense Council’s resolution about designating the Houthi militias as a “Terrorist Organization”.
The President highly praised the role of the UK and USA in supporting the Central Bank of Yemen with $300 million from Yemen’s Special Drawing Right of the International Monetary Fund, which will commence next week.
He stated that this is very important step to bolster trust in the national currency, help constant imports of basic commodities, improve the livelihood of the Yemeni peoples all over the country.
Al-Alimi also praised the efforts of the US administration to carry out the resolution of weapon embargo that helped to intercept several ships boarding weapons shipments to the Terrorist Houthi militias, most recent one was last week when the US Fifth Navy intercepted an Iranian ship laden with explosives materials used in missiles fuels.
