His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-ALaimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Wednesday, at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, the Chargé d’Affairs of the Japanese Embassy to Yemen, Kazuhiro Higashi, to discuss areas of bilateral cooperation, developments in the Yemeni situation, and efforts to establish peace in the country.
In the meeting, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the ancient Yemeni-Japanese relations, and appreciated the friendly stances of Japan’s leadership, government and people alongside the Yemeni people and its legitimate leadership.
The meeting touched on areas of bilateral cooperation, Japanese humanitarian and development interventions, whose value exceeded $400 million in recent years, according to Ambassador Higashi, and the promising prospects for expanding them during the coming period.
Ambassador Higashi conveyed to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council the greetings of the Emperor of Japan and his government, and their affirmation of Tokyo’s firm position in support of constitutional legitimacy in Yemen.
The meeting dealt with the course of the UN-sponsored armistice in Yemen, the international pressures required to push the Houthi militias to fulfill their obligations under the UN Declaration, and the Stockholm Agreement, especially with regard to opening roads to Taiz and other governorates, and paying employees’ salaries from the revenues of fuel ships arriving through the ports of Hodeidah, with the facilitation of the legitimate government.
