CAIRO-SABA

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ahmed Bin Mubarak contributed today to the discussions of the 157th Session of the Arab League Council at ministerial level.

Arab Foreign Ministers engaged in deliberations on topical issues regionally and internationally including latest international developments and challenges touch upon Arab national security and sovereignty.

Bin Mubarak talked about the latest developments in Yemen and the tough humanitarian situations due to Iran-backed Houthi militias’ coup d’état.

He squarely put blame on the Houthi militia for blocking peace efforts, turning down all peace proposals.

He renewed the government’s welcoming the International Security Council recent resolution about extending the UN sanctions regime in Yemen which designated Houthi militia as a terrorist group.

Bin Mubarak described the UNSC’s resolution as a significant move in the hope that it will be followed by practical measures to curb the Iranian military support for the militia that has been key factor for prolonging the war, worsening the humanitarian suffering and undermining efforts to make peace.
