Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ahmad Awadh Bin Mubarak met Saturday here with Deputy Director of General Department of Humanitarian Assistances Operations at EU Michel Coupler and Head of Disputes and Humanitarian Affairs Department at Swedish Foreign Ministry Carl Skaw.
The meeting was assigned for discussing humanitarian situation in Yemen and issues to be discussed in the third meeting of senior officials in donor countries on humanitarian crisis in Yemen to be held on June 1st, 2021.
Bin Mubarak confirmed significance of tackling political roots of Yemen’s crisis, which resulted in the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, pointing out that the ceasefire and ending the war is the most significant humanitarian step for tackling all other humanitarian issues.
He pointed out to Houthi militia irresponsible approach in dealing with Safir Oil Tanker issues and hindering arrival of UN technical team to evaluate the tanker, which needs urgent maintenance work as it contains more than one million barrel of crude oil.
He also pointed out to Houthi militia’s continuous aggression on Marib and targeting civilians and camps of displaced people there, holding Houthi militia responsible on oil derivatives’ crisis in their held areas.
He confirmed government’s facilitations to all international organizations and workers in humanitarian field in Yemen for helping them accomplish their tasks and reaching all Yemeni areas.
For their part, the European officials pointed out to donors’ commitment of providing humanitarian support to Yemen and expressed their appreciation to the government for the facilitations it provides to humanitarian organizations and workers.
