RIYADH – SABA
Yemen’s Foreign Minister has said that the Iran-affiliate militia of Houthis in his country is continuing its attack on the government’s stronghold and IDPs’ safe haven of Marib despite a peace proposal by Saudi Arabia.
Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak said in a phone conversation with the UK’s Minister of State Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa James Cleverly that the Saudi initiative is an opportunity for ending the conflict and one which has met a broad international acclaim except from Iran which wants the war to drag on.
Bin Mubarak called for an international press on the militia to stop their aggression and respond to peace calls.
Bin Mubarak said the government has admitted many oil-laden vessels to the Hodeida Seaport despite the militia’s lack of adherence to the Stockholm Agreement which provides for the payment of public salaries – in the militia-controlled territories -from taxes.
