President Hadi receives the UN’s Envoy to Yemen

The President of the Republic Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi along with the Vice President Ali Mohsen Saleh and Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik received today the UN’s Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths.

The session intended to discuss the developments in the Yemeni national scene, international and regional efforts to bring the war in Yemen to its end, mainly the Saudi proposition.

President Hadi asserted that the legitimate government is a keen-seeker for the sustainable peace that based on the three terms of reference including the GCC’s Initiative, its executive mechanism, outcomes of National Dialogue and the UNSCR 2216 to maintain Yemen’s unity, security and stability.

He stated that the government has offered significant concessions with the aim of putting an end of the conflict in Yemen but Houthi militia acted arrogantly, refused to come to peace.

The President reinstated that the government will always continue to deal constructively with any initiatives and efforts aiming to establish peace in Yemen because it is keen to stop bloodshed in the country and bring the Yemeni peoples’ suffering to its end.

The President of the Republic noted that the Houthi militia’s continuous military operations on Marib and other governorates has shown that it has no intention to opt for peaceful options to end the war. Yet he has made it clear that the Yemeni peoples will never accept to get the Iranian experiment replicated in Yemen nor let Yemen goes back to the demised imamate theocratic ruling.

Hadi underscored the importance of the UN envoy’s efforts, international community’s good offices as well as brothers’ to make peace. He called for sustaining the government’s efforts to manage economic hardships, improve basic services and get Riyadh Agreement implemented in full.

For his part Griffiths stated that humanitarian situation is extremely tough, requiring joining efforts to end the bloody conflict in Yemen and save the Yemeni peoples more suffering.
