VP meets with French Ambassador to Yemen

Vice President of the Republic (Lt Gen) Ali Mohsen Saleh met here tuseday with Ambassador of the Republic of France Jean-Marie SAFA.

Yemeni-French bilateral relations and the latest developments in Yemen were key focus of the discussions.

The Vice President welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador, wishing him all the best in his mission to further boost aspects of common cooperation to serve the mutual interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

Mohsen highly praised the French significant role in supporting legality, security and stability in Yemen, briefing the French diplomat on the progress realized in the implementation of Riyadh Agreement and the mechanism designed to speed up its enforcement.

The Vice President stated that it is very important to get Riyadh Agreement implemented to unify the Yemenis’ main goal of reinstating the official government and eliminating the coup. In this regard he voiced his appreciation for the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the brothers’ efforts they have been making to make Riyadh Agreement successful.

The Vice President reiterated legitimate government’s support for the international efforts aiming to re-establish permanent peace based on the three terms of reference including the GCC’s Initiative, its executive mechanism, outcomes of the National Dialogue and the UNSCRs in relevance.

He blamed the Iranian regime’s interventions in Yemen and its support for Houthi militia for prolonging the conflict and blocking peace efforts in Yemen.

The Vice President condemned the terrorist attack against fuels tanker in Jeddah harbor with a laden-explosives boat, describing it as a threat to world’s security and stability.

The French Ambassador affirmed his country’s support for the ongoing efforts aiming to get Riyadh Agreement implemented in full and the government formed. He also stated that France is supporting the UN-led peace efforts to make peace and resume political process.
