PM praises Yemeni-Egyptian relations

Prime Minister Ma’een Abdulmalik has praised Yemeni-Egyptian deep-rooted historical relations.

Receiving Egyptian Ambassador to Yemen Ahmad Farouq on Thursday, prime minister confirmed necessity of activating coordination for following up implementation of agreed upon agreements during his visit to Egypt and meeting with President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.

The meeting touched upon latest developments in Yemen and activating the Supreme Joint Committee in implementation to agreements made during the prime minister’s visit to Cairo, in addition to coordinating joint positions towards a number of issues led by securing the Red Sea, security of international maritime navigation and to avoid Safir Oil Tanker’s catastrophe, which is used by Houthi militia as a means for political blackmail.

The two parties also discussed UN efforts for realizing peace in Yemen and accomplished steps for finalizing the mechanism of speeding up implementation of Riyadh Agreement and formation of the new government.

For his part, the Egyptian diplomat reaffirmed his country’s support to the government of Yemen and for realizing peace and stability in the country
